Here is a story from Edwin who attended last year’s Newday!

“When I heard about Newday it felt like it would be a fun and a good place to get to know God better (which was true), so I was looking forward to it.
When we arrived at Newday with the youths from Crown Church we all gathered around to hear the daily activities. We were told that from 9am -9:45am there would be a general prayer meeting. I had goose bumps on my hands when they mentioned it because I’ve never liked the sound of prayer meetings - I always thought they were boring.”

“They woke us up the next day and we had breakfast and the people who wanted to go to the prayer meeting were about to leave. I was thinking ‘shall I go or not?’ but I eventually felt something in me which told me to go, so I went. I joined my friend and went to the prayer meeting with him. When we arrived I saw everyone standing up and worshiping and I was thinking this can’t be so bad. So after a couple of songs we sat down and the man on the stage started talking and told us to get into small groups and pray for each other. I found that the prayer meeting was really fun and I did not expect to have enjoyed myself this much. I was looking forward to tomorrow’s prayer meeting.”

“At the main meeting which was called the ‘big top’ I also had a really good time. The worship time that we had was really good and the preaching was really interesting. During the worship there was a particular song by Simon Brading called ‘Breakthrough’. During the lines of “My heart is bursting again, God of power breakthrough” I burst out crying and I couldn’t stop.
One of my leaders came to me and said “do you know why you’re crying?” and I said “no”. He told me it was God’s presence working in me, so he prayed for me and that was the best experience I have had in my life. On the next day in the ‘big top’ I experienced the same thing again and one of my other leaders came and we prayed.”

A leader shared 1 Timothy 4 verses 12-16 which says “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.  Until I come, devote yourself to the public reading of Scripture, to preaching and to teaching.
Do not neglect your gift, which was given you through prophecy when the body of elders laid their hands on you. Be diligent in these matters; give yourself wholly to them, so that everyone may see your progress. Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers.”

“Newday has made me understand more about God and it has helped my relationship with God grow more.”
