    Presence Of Holy Spirit

AND I TELL YOU, ASK, AND IT WILL BE GIVEN TO YOU; SEEK, AND YOU WILL FIND; KNOCK, AND IT WILL BE OPENED TO YOU. FOR EVERYONE WHO ASKS RECEIVES, AND THE ONE WHO SEEKS FINDS, AND TO THE ONE WHO KNOCKS IT WILL BE OPENED. WHAT FATHER AMONG YOU, IF HIS SON ASKS FOR A FISH, WILL INSTEAD OF A FISH GIVE HIM A SERPENT; OR IF HE ASKS FOR AN EGG, WILL GIVE HIM A SCORPION? IF YOU THEN, WHO ARE EVIL, KNOW HOW TO GIVE GOOD GIFTS TO YOUR CHILDREN, HOW MUCH MORE WILL THE HEAVENLY FATHER GIVE THE HOLY SPIRIT TO THOSE WHO ASK HIM!” (LUKE 11:9-13, ESV)

    Ask and receive

Jesus knew the Holy Spirit well. They’ve been in eternal union. Along with the Father, they make up the incredible three-in-one God revealed to us in the Bible and vividly in the life and work of Jesus. Distinct from one-another in what they do, but with the same nature. Jesus knows that the Holy Spirit is a good gift; that he’s what humans need, and he knows the Father is a good Father.

‘You do not have, because you do not ask. You ask and do not receive, because you ask wrongly, to spend it on your passions.’ (James 4:2-3)

Children don’t ask for what they don’t understand. They ask for what they want but not always what they need. Everything that we’re commanded or encouraged to do or be in Scripture is only possible with Holy Spirit’s help. Often though, we forget that he’s the missing presence in our lives, we turn everywhere else before remembering to ask for his help.

    Prayer Prompts

    1) Ask for forgiveness for looking elsewhere before turning to the Holy Spirit for help.

    2) Thank God for being a good Father and ask him to give you the Holy Spirit.
